The organisation Bridges to Prosperity will now be known as Fika.
Fika will continue its mission to work with communities and governments to deliver safe, reliable rural transport access through community-built trail bridges.
Nivi Sharma, CEO of Fika said: ‘Our mission hasn’t changed. We exist to connect rural populations to critical destinations. What has changed is the scale of our work. Fika captures our promise: that people can get where they need to go, safely, every day.’
As well as engaging at a community level, Fika will get involved in planning on a national scale with its AI-enabled digital tool suite Fika Digital, which allows governments to analyse access needs and measure outcomes.
The word fika means arrive in many Africa languages, including Kiswahili and Zulu.
