The US Department of Transportation is putting up a prize purse totalling US$650,000 in a challenge aimed at beautifying infrastructure.
Citizens are invited to submit “visionary proposals” for transportation infrastructure projects, including bridges, overpasses, transit hubs and streetscapes.
US DOT is seeking grounded, realistic designs from three tiers: professionals, the public and students. Concepts should align with Executive Order 14344 – Making Federal Architecture Beautiful Again and should show how future investments can be aesthetically elevated while remaining functionally viable.
Three prizes will be offered at each tier, with a total offer of US$650,000. The professional prize pot totals US$500,000.
