BEAR Scotland has awarded a contract for inspection of the permanent underdeck gantries used by workers on the Queensferry Crossing.

Spencer Bridge Engineering will for the next three years manage the inspection programme for the gantries on the 2.7km structure.

The programme will consist of two four-week inspections each year, covering the six underdeck gantries and two internal deck shuttles. The contract lasts until March 2028.

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is responsible for the Queensferry Crossing, 14km west of central Edinburgh. The crossing is the world’s longest three-tower cable-stayed bridge, and the largest to feature cables that cross mid-span.

Spencer is based in Hull, northeast England and has been involved in maintenance and repair of the UK’s most recognisable structures, including the Humber, Forth, Erskine and Menai Bridges.
