A 1.3km extradosed bridge in the Philippines will be open to motorists by the last quarter of the year, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Bucana Bridge spans the mouth of the Davao River in the south of the country. It is part of the Davao City Coastal Bypass Road. The four-lane structure has six spans, measuring 480m, with 860m of approach roads. The civil works contractor is China Road and Bridge Corporation, and the Chinese government funded the US$54.5 million project (link opens in new tab).

The superstructure is complete and the next steps include traffic barriers and pedestrian railings, painting of pylons and waterproofing and asphalt overlay of the deck.
